THE MAKING UP

Nuestro particular road trip o también conocido cinematográficamente como viaje de pirados se realizará entre el 8 de agosto y 29 de agosto por las interminables carreteras de América del Norte.

Our Road Trip will run from the 8th until the 29^th of August driving trough the endless roads of North America.

Nuestra principal idea era la de realizar la famosa Route 66 de principio a fín. Durante muchos años del siglo XX, la Route 66 o The Mother Road fue el principal itinerario de los emigrantes que iban al oeste en busca de prosperidad y también de muchos veraneantes con destino a las playas de California.

Our main idea was to drive the famous Route 66 from the beginning until the end. During several years of XX Century, Route 66 or “The Mother Road” was the main rout for immigrants that where travelling from West to East looking for prosperity. Also there where a lot of tourists heading to the beaches of California.

Este elevado incremento del tránsito hizo prosperar rápidamente todo tipo de atracciones a lo largo de la carretera incluyendo moteles, estaciones de servicio, puestos de natillas frías, tiendas de curiosidades de los indios nativos, criaderos de reptiles, primeros restaurantes drive-through e incluso el primer McDonalds. Cambios como estos en el paisaje reafirmaron la reputación de la Ruta 66 como el casi perfecto microcosmos de la cultura de Angloamérica.

The increase of transit made this area develop really rapidly and all kind of atractions where built in the surrounding of the this road such as Motels, Petrol Strations, custard stands, shops of Native Americans, reptiles farms, the first drive-through restaurants and even the first McDonalds. Changes like this ones in the landscape, reaffirmed the reputation of the Route 66 as an almost perfect mircrocosm of the Anglo-American culture.

Debido al declive sufrido durante las décadas 60 y 70 la carretera madre perdió atractivo en gran parte de su recorrido pero aún conserva reminiscencias de su esplendor en estados como Arizona o California. Es por ello, que hemos decidido modificar nuestra ruta e incluir la visita a New York y Las Montañas Rocosas en nuestro trayecto.

Due to the incline suffered during the 60s and the 70s, the mother road lost attractiveness in a almost all it´s route but it still retains remnants of its glory in States like Arizona or California. This is the reason why we have decided to include a visit to New York and the Rocky Mountains on our way.
